That means shutting certain people out of the discussion until it has
died down. My problem was that I wanted to react to one of Ray's
posts, but by the time I got around to it, there had been a dozen or
so other messages on the subject, so I just gave up, rather than turn
it into a worse cacaphony.
The discussion between a limited number of high-volume responders may create the false impression of convergence when they approach consensus among themselves. There may still be many opinions on the sidelines that have not been thrown into the discussion.
