I'm very happy that it is interest in our work! First, let me present myself: I'm currently working as a Semantic Web Specialist for Opera Software ASA in Oslo, but originally, I'm an astronomer. I earned my master's (or rather the somewhat larger Norwegian Cand. Scient.) from the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics in Oslo in 2002 on extragalactic gravitational microlensing of quasar broad emission line clouds.

I am Opera's representative on the POWDER WG, as well as its precursor the WCL XG. Opera is in that group mainly because of the "child protection" angle, however, I have allready shared a number of scientific use cases with the group. For example, I think that it would be interesting to use this kind of descriptions in peer-review in academic journals. I think that use case would also be of great interest to the Open Access community, and I think we will likely include it in upcoming work.

I would be happy to be a liaison between the VO and the POWDER group, so if there are any use cases or requirements, please let me know. I'll do my best to keep up with this list, but as it is a spare time interest right now, please give me a heads-up if there is anything I should be particularly aware of.

PS: I would like to get back into astronomy one day, and bring along semantic web technologies. If anyone is aware of any position where I could work from Oslo, either telecommuting or in cooperation with any of the research institutions here, please let me know! :-)

Best,

Kjetil
