The reason for separating "astronomical non-object concepts" and "sematics for astronomical objects" escapes me entirely, even if it were possible to do so (which it isn't). At least someone agrees that a natural but major extension to UCD "may be appropriate"..... :-)

The UCD group has already done a fine job of starting the listing of astronomical concepts (object and non-object). Do we really want DM (or even worse, VOEvent) to do the other job, even if there's no "model" behind the data model? The non-table extensions to UCD are so obvious, relatively limited in number, and totally driven by the requirement in a variety of VO-related efforts, i.e. can't wait for a year-long discussion of whether we want to proceed beyond VOTable.

If the consenus within the ucd-sci board is that we only need a few more (or less) table labels, then VOEvent or RTML will be forced to do the job which
naturally should be done by UCD and the IVOA efforts to make VO tools as integrated as possible will suffer a major and utterly unnecessary
setback.

Don't worry - my blood pressure has returned to normal and I'll shut up.
