I guess I find the current discussion stimulating and not a sign of a problem. One concern
on my part.... My guess is that we only get to make one change to UCDs where the revision is incompatible with the previous set. I don't think the community will want to change their software twice while we're getting our act together. Even Microsoft can't get away with that!

Absent your killer app, I'm not sure that a revision to UCDs is on the critical path for the VO so we should take the time to do it right and live with the current standard as long as needed.

Personally, I think that UCDTrees or something like them (along with XQuery style queries on them) can be a link between abstract data models and concrete data representations. Tools that search for data matching a given data model could be that killer app. We'll see if this pans out when looked at in detail.
