VOQL-TEG Meeting #3

+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#5 on YS: To send note to the list on why he believes
UPLOAD should be part of the

+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#6 on ALL: To send to list inputs on preferences to have
the UPLOAD (whether in the Protocol or in the Service)

+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#7 on FO (plus DT/KA): to propose a mechanism for getting
table metadata within the TAP and possible output format.
Actin ongoing.
DT comments that all proposals done through the mailing list are consistent. KA proposes to have two different mechanisms: one required and based on VOTable output, and a optional one based on VOResource. PO says that we should wait for FO comments as he might have a suggestion on how to handle many tables in the response. AS comments about a query mechanism already present in most of the SQL vendors to get the tabular metadata. This one would just need to be adapted with the ucd, unit,...etc descriptions.
PO asks for volunteers to have a look at AS suggestion. BG volunteers. People were discussing about different output formats to be used and no definitive agreement was reached.
+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#8 on YS/IO/PO to initiate the refurbishing of the ADQL
spec to have it as a basis
Closed. Inaki Ortiz has initiated and distributed the doc. A summary is
given by IO on what has been done.
+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#9 on PO/DT: to start writing the TAP document
+VOQL-TEG-1/AI#10 on PO: To change IVOA wiki pages
Closed. Pages changed. PO encourages all to have a look at new pages and
check if they are OK.
+VOQL-TEG-2/AI#1 on ALL: to send to the list real code examples of how
we deal with REGION constructs _and_ special constructs (like the CROSS
APPLY)
Action still open. PO asks all for inputs. AS says he will have a look
at it shortly.
+VOQL-TEG-2/AI#2 on AS/FO: to initiate the writing of an IVOA standard
document for the description if a Service that addresses the Crossmatch
issue.

+VOQL-TEG-2/AI#3 on ALL: to give ideas on the name to give to the
aforementioned Service (describing crossmatch issues)

2) General discussion
IO describes briefly the ADQL specification draft sent to the list the week before. KA suggests to make some corrections on grammar (based on Jeff Lusted experience with it). No more comments on the document. PO comments that he plans to feed the community with all that has been agreed/commented in this meetings so far. KA raises the issue about units. She argues we should define a sort of conventions on units and how to handle them. PO agrees and raises an action on him to talk to the IVOA WG chairmen about it. DT comments on two different contexts of units: the local one within the VOQL group and the overall within the IVOA. KA agrees though she is currently looking for an agreement on its usage within the Region construct first.
