During the morning session I mentioned RTML, and how the robotic telescope community is using it to make data requests, some interest was shown by various people at the meeting, so...

I thought I'd throw some links at you so that you can have a look a this stuff in your own time, the main RTML page can be found at

   http://sunra.lbl.gov/rtml/

the RTML version the eSTAR (www.estar.org.uk) project is using is an extended version of RTML v2.1, and was "officially" adopted as RTML v2.2 at the end of 2002, it provides a fair bit more functionality than RTML v2.1 but preserves the syntax (ie. its backwards compatible).

A summary of the syntax can be found at

   http://sunra.lbl.gov/rtml/estar.html

the DTD for v2.2 can be found here

   http://www.astro.ex.ac.uk/estar/documents/rtml2.1.dtd

and also here

   http://alpha.uni-sw.gwdg.de/~hessman/RTML/RTML2.2/RTML-2.2.dtd

and some simple RTML v2.2 examples at

   http://www.astro.ex.ac.uk/estar/documents/rtml_examples.tar.gz

Cheers,
Al.
