I'm not convinced there's much commonality - if you compare the RTML schema with what is required in a data archive request (say look in SIAP or the cone-search prototypes, or ASU) just about the only elements in common are RA, and DEC. There's something called "epoch" which might be intended to be "equinox" (people often confuse them), since equinox is obviously essential (not every archive uses J2000). But I see no way of specifying even a cone-radius or image size. With so little in common, I don't see much advantage to it.
