One of our staff here, Ed Sabol, has caught an apparent inconsistency in the VOTable document and schema. The document recommends using   elements for embedded spaces (in the discussion of character primitives in section 6), but the schema does not define it, and nbsp is not a standard XML escape sequence.

Probably the simplest thing to do is to simply delete the reference in the document. The numeric alternative is   is fine. Alternatively the next version of the Schema could define nbsp.
